Where do they go from here?

Since 1991 the M'ZA coaching staff has motivated 89 youth into various colleges and universities throughout the nation. Many former M'ZA athletes have gone not only on to higher education but also on to entrepreneurial ventures, to manage major retail chains, banks, auto dealerships, to become great Denver area athletic coaches and finally creators and/or directors of youth organizations.

The M’ZA GREYHOUNDS TRACK CLUB is coached by Tiyo Smith. Coach “T” has been coaching track since 1984. The name “M’ZA” serves not only as a name meaning enlightened teacher but also as the name of the father and coach of club founder Coach Tiyo Smith.

2007 represents the birth of the third generation of M’ZA coaching with the rise of grandson Malik (National Champion and “Governors Athlete of the Year”) as Assistant Coach of the M’ZA Greyhounds. The earned legacy of an elite club in the sport of track and field is emerging, known in the state of Colorado for effective youth programming and the nation for consistent champions in track and field. He has extensive experience in developing track & field athletes and is well known throughout the region. Coach launched M’ZA in Denver in 1991.
